Supporting Scottish Farmers
M&S has a long-standing commitment to Scottish farming and food production. More than 4,000 farms, sea farms and fishing vessels across Scotland supply products to M&S stores throughout the UK. We currently partner with 449 Select Farms in Aberdeenshire which is the highest of any Scottish region.
Duncan Farms has supplied M&S with high-quality Scottish eggs for more than three years. Based in Turriff, Aberdeenshire, the family-owned business was founded in 2014 and is one of Scotland’s leading free-range and organic egg producers, employing more than 130 local people and producing over 5 million free range eggs each year.
We also work with Castleton Fruit Ltd at Fordoun, McIntosh Donald in Portlethen and Thistle Seafoods in Peterhead helping support over 2,100 jobs across the region.
Community Benefits
M&S is committed to making a positive difference in the communities it serves. Through its Marks & Start programme, delivered alongside The King's Trust, M&S helps people facing barriers to employment gain valuable workplace experience and opportunities.
The company also works with local charities and community organisations to ensure surplus food reaches people who need it most. Our existing Westhill and Inverurie stores have combined since 2016 to date delivered 334,000 surplus meal donations supporting over 9 good causes including Westhill Community Church, Aberdeenshire North Foodbank and Grampian Opportunities. The financial impact of the donations is over £600,000.
M&S's popular Remarksable Value range offers customers benchmarked prices alongside the trusted quality and sourcing standards M&S is known for with over 50 organic customer favourites now joining the range. We've also dropped and locked the prices of delicious food and drink products across our Foodhall, to help customers save on their weekly shop and still enjoy the quality you'd expect from M&S. Additionally, M&S is now working with Too Good To Go with surplus items from the store’s in-house bakery being sold at a discounted price, helping reduce food waste.
